RON & DALLA in concert
THURSDAY FEBRUARY 1, 2007 – 9:00 PM
ALFIERI THEATRE – TURIN

Accompanied by the Tuscan Jazz Orchestra and with the participation of Kataklò, and Lino Cannavacciuolo and his Band, two famous Italian singers, Ron & Dalla will perform at a benefit concert with the proceeds to be contributed to Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis research.

This is a unique occasion to relive the emotions that this grand duo provided in 1979 when together with De Gregori, Lucio Dalla, at the height of his popularity, and the young Ron made the Italians dream with their Banana Republic event-tour.
In the tour, unpublished pieces sprang forward, slightly pandered, ("Come fanno i marinai") but decisively incisive (the tormenting title track, readapted from an American piece by De Gregori). Between "l'istrione plebeo di strada" (Dalla) (the plebeian actor of the street) and "il principe malinconico e fascinoso" (De Gregori) (the melancholy and fascinating prince), the role of Ron as mediator was decisive as he stood between the two on stage.
Banana Republic celebrated an Italy that sought a path to exit from the political dissatisfaction of the “anni di piombo” following a tropical atoll or Cuban-Caribbean political hermitage. It was a great success with crowded stadiums and 500,000 copies sold.
On Thursday, February 1st in the Alfieri Theatre of Turin, it will be possible to go back almost 30 years in time and re-listen as these two big Italian songsters perform together, accompanied by the Tuscan Jazz Orchestra and with the participation of Kataklò, a group of young mimes, and Lino Cannavacciuolo, a grand Neapolitan violinist who has collaborated with Peppe Barra and Pino Daniele.
The evening will be hosted by DJs Andrea and Michele of Radio Deejay and completely under the grand direction of Pepi Morgia.
The Vialli and Mauro Foundation for Research and Sport, founded by Gianluca Vialli, Massimo Mauro and Cristina Grande Stevens in 2004, is the promoter of this benefit evening, from which all of the proceeds will finance a research project for ALS, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, which will be conducted by Adriano Chiò of the Neuroscience Department of Molinette, Caterina Bendotti of the Mario Negri Institute of Milan and Gabriele Mora of the Salvatore Maugeri Foundation of Pavia.
